stylists, and celebrities that are making their mark on the world of

clothing industry companies that help identify trends and provide resources and
services to assist the industry. Today
we are presenting to you The Doneger Group.

Building on their rich heritage and reputation, they strategically grow the business of their clients through the addition of new services and the development of specific divisions in support and anticipation of the ever-changing direction of the industry. The Doneger Group – Henry Doneger Associates, Inc.
463 Seventh Avenue
New York, NY 10018
212 564-1266
The
company currently has a few divisions that offer various services for their
clients: Tobe Report, Doneger Creative Services, and Directive West.
In 1927 Miss Tobe founded her eponymous fashion advisory service company, based in New York City. The Fashion Report from Tobe delivered news to major retailers on not just fashion shifts, styling references and design details but also consumer desires, lifestyle influences and head-to-toe wardrobing. More importantly, Tobe offered the retailer insightful analysis, strategic and tactical recommendations for what to do with these ideas.
Miss Tobe spent her days meeting with and advising retailers and manufacturers. Evenings were devoted to seeing and observing the newest, most inspiring and interesting fashions in art, style and culture. During her overseas travels, she was among the first to report from European fashion shows via cablegram. In a 1937 article, Delineator Magazine referred to Miss Tobe as fashion’s first stylist. An arbiter of taste, Miss Tobe’s well-informed understanding and opinions on the direction of fashion and consumer shifts made her company’s services the most highly sought-after in the industry.
In addition to running her business, Miss Tobe penned a nationally syndicated newspaper column called “Tobe Says.” She was also a founding member of The Fashion Group International, along with Eleanor Roosevelt, Edith Head and Elizabeth Arden in 1928. Ten years later, Miss Tobe and former fashion editor Julia Coburn joined forces to create the Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers in Manhattan with the purpose of providing fashion career-focused courses to young women; the institution still exists today. In 1960, then Senator and future President John F. Kennedy appointed Miss Tobe to the National Committee of Business and Professional Men and Women for Kennedy and Johnson.
Miss Tobe’s fashion acumen and business philosophy have been modernized for present times. As the business landscape evolves, so does Tobe, yet one thing that will always remain is our sharp focus on the consumer. This is why Tobe appeals to retailers, brands and businesses seeking to resonate, connect and engage with the consumer.
The legacy and undeniable influence of Miss Tobe and her company live on and are collectively embodied by the Tobe team today.
